Village de LOUGRATTE

Lougratte derives its name from the Latin “LOCUS GRATUS” – Pleasant place.

Situated half way between Bergerac and Villeneuve sur Lot, on the RN21 (Route Nationale), Lougratte lies in gently rolling scenery between the majestic and well-known valleys of the river Lot and the Dordogne.

The village church, originally dating from the 12th Century was reconstructed and strengthened during the 15th Century.

At the foot of the village, the 18-acre lake is set in 63 acres of magnificent natural countryside.

Adjoining the lake is the 2-star campsite…

The principal commerce of the village comprises: A general store (mini-market), bakery, garage, post office, hotel-restaurant, “gites” (rented holiday accommodation), “ferme auberge” (farm-restaurant)…

The gastronomic delights of the region are all sold, direct from local farms, these include: Poultry, foie gras, “confit” (duck & goose conserve), prunes, cheeses…

Exhibitions of paintings are presented, during the summer months, in the picturesque 15th Century church of the nearby hamlet of Valette.

Country walks open to the public…
Nearby equestrian centre for lessons and local riding excursions.
